If carrying out repetitive tasks on your PC is getting you down then you might like to have a look at AutoHotkey. This free, open source program is designed simply to save you time by automating as much of what you do on your computer as possible.

You can use it to create new shortcut keys and to automate keystrokes, mouse clicks and joysticks controls. There is a macro recorder which allows you write a macro for your mouse or keyboard movements and you can also set up hotkeys using different combination of mouse, joystick and keyboard controls.

Another feature which could come in handy is the ability to expand out abbreviations automatically. So if by "fyi" you always mean "for your information" then this can be expanded out to the full phrase every time that you type it.

If you feel the need to remap the buttons and the keys on your keyboard, joystick or mouse then AutoHotkey lets you do this simply as well. You can also change the mouse control so that it is controlled by the computer's keyboard or joystick.

There are a host of other tweaks and time saving changes to your PC which the utility also offers - make windows transparent, disable Window's built in shortcut keys etc - and all of this adds up to a fairly comprehensive piece of software which many users will no doubt find very useful.
