This free program lets you take screenshots from the Google Chrome and Safari browsers and then add details to them before saving them as a file and sharing them. The kind of manipulation you can carry out includes adding notes, putting on different shapes and cropping the screenshot. A version for Mozilla Firefox is also due to come out soon.
The actual snapping of screens works on a simple one click process using the symbol which is added to your toolbar when you first set up the Awesome Screenshot software. You can capture the full screen, the visible section or any particular region that interests you.
You also get a handy erase option which could be used, for example, to blur out confidential information such as addresses or bank account details.
There is a very simple one click process for uploading the file to Awesomescreenshot.com and from there sharing it with other people through Facebook, Twitter etc using a hard to guess URL for safety reasons.
The quality of the image is excellent and the program is so easy to use that anyone who regularly takes screenshots will save a fair bit of time by using this software, especially if they then like to share the images. The only downside is the fact that the list of browsers you can use it on is limited at the moment, although the upcoming launch of a Firefox compatible version will make it available to a lot more people.
