Parental Control Bar Description

Size: 4.75 MB License: Shareware Price: Free

Parents who want to make sure that their children only ever access safe and child friendly sites will find all the features and protection they need in this free and effective piece of software.

The program is offered by WRAAC.org, a company which describes itself as being a non profit organisation which aims to provide free, useful internet control programs to concerned parents who want to keep their children safe from harmful influences and unsuitable sites.

It basically lets you put your PC into one of two different modes; Parent Mode or Child Mode. Parents can set a password, go through some tutorials or look up the help menu before then setting the levels they want, while children will find their access restricted to the areas set by their parents.

Once everything is set up - which shouldn't take much time - you can start to manually adjust the level of access you want your child to having while browsing the web. There is the option to manually block or unblock sites which you feel are incorrectly categorised by the toolbar. You do this by adding the sites in question to either the Child Safe list of the Child Blocked list as you see fit.

There are lots of nice little features to make the toolbar easier to use. An online indicator makes it simple to see if it is in Child or Parent Mode, the Parental password can be retrieved through your email and there is a very quick and easy way to switch between the two different modes on offer.

One restriction to be aware of is it the Parental Control Bar will not work on multi user computers and can only be applied to a system which has a single user on it.

Parents who want to control the sites seen by their little ones will find this a really easy to use program which doesn't get in the way of your browsing and which is incredibly simple to get started on. It is recommended for busy parents who just don't have the time to monitor their kid's internet use as much as they would really like to.
